Christine thiel

Cover To Cover is a biography, told by Annie. Nothing in Annie’s life was as it seemed. I wrote this book to free my mind. In fact, it’s my autobiography. Who am I? I’m a middle-aged woman who has used life’s experiences to develop my character. Cover To Cover’s story is about my life and how I survived and grew. It exposes the deceit created by adults and continued to follow me, and later, haunting me through my childhood and adult life.

Cover To Cover demonstrates the blessings and blows in my life. How the untimely deaths of my young mother, and later my grandmother, shaped my childhood and adolescence. At these strategic stages in my life, decisions were made for me by well meaning or controlling adults, without asking me how I was feeling or explaining their decisions. In fact they barely acknowledged me, while making all the decisions about my life. In my early years I withdrew and resigned my fate to the decision makers. This withdrawal did not help me when I entered adulthood.

Born in 1950, Christine Thiel only had four years with her mother, who died prematurely of complications after a minor medical procedure. Christine’s sister, born with disabilities, only had three years with her mother. The man they knew as “Dad”, struggled to raise the girls, with the help of housekeepers, but ultimately surrendered to the difficulties of this lifestyle he tried to maintain. The responsibility of caring for five years old Christine was passed to her maternal grandparents. Christine adapted to life on the Lobethal farm, attending the local school, and doing her daily chores. Her grandmother was an enthusiastic gardener, growing the vegetables to supply the family.
